The One-Upper

The One upper who is a plague on this country

First, I am going to start off by defining what I mean by One Upper.

I don't want to say this is an actual definition, but in my mind this is how I see it, this is a personal take.

The One Upper, no matter what you say, be it buying a new house, inheriting money or saying how many pets you have. The one upper will always respond with something bigger, grander or more impressive than whatever you may have mentioned.

It seems to be a refuge for people that are insecure. If you buy a 1400sq foot home, they say their house is 2000 square feet.

If you say you have two dogs that are of mixed breed, the One Upper will say they have 4 dogs that are all pure bred.

This cycle continues on and on. It truly is a problem, especially when it goes beyond surface level narcissism. When these types of people get carried away, it becomes a difficult and harmful relationship.

This type of bafoonery leads to an unhealthy place where truth takes a backseat to pride. The One Upper must continue with his charade until the lie becomes so big, it becomes a liability.

Everyday people can get away with this without causing too much harm. Though, in my humble opinion it just makes them look like idiots. I tested this One Upmanship on people that are this way in my life. It’s actually a fun little game. Try to come up with a pretty big claim. Something that is plausible but not so big as to tip the One Upper off. After doing so sit back and watch your victim come up with the most ridiculous fantasy he can think of. At this point you can call him out, or you can just let him go and enjoy the stupidity that follows. It's up to you.

The reason for my little thought experiment is that someone like Donald Trump always needs to maintain this aura of top dog.

This problem gets extreme when it comes to people in power. Especially people in power with a lot of money. Donald Trump will never admit fault, and he will never back down from something that he thinks he can one up. It doesn't matter how illegal or how outrageous because his ego can't handle it. It would tear down this wall of stupidity that he has built for himself. He wouldn't be able to handle that kind psychological pain. Now with his dementia, who knows what kind of antics he would try to pull.

He will continue to try and one up the public, the senators and other country's leaders. He learned this behavior from when he was a boy I am sure. Daddy was never easy to please and people like Roy Cohen, a lawyer/fixer/family “friend” taught him to behave this way. Never admit fault and never look weak. Toxic masculinity in a nutshell.

When the One Upper has the ability to gab, but is not terribly smart, you get someone like Donald Trump. An idiot that doesn’t understand power or responsibility. Combine these things and you get a very dangerous stew. He is a danger to himself, his people, his country and anyone that is anywhere in his orbit.

He will attempt to One Up as we escalate our protests, and he will One Up himself until his black heart can no longer pump the Burger King sludge that runs through his veins.

He is the biggest One Upper in the last 3 generations. He will not stop until he is dragged away in hand cuffs. Obviously, he is ramping up military presence, and he will continue to ramp up until someone makes him stop.

I suppose we could call this Narcissism but life circumstances like money and power when pushed to an extreme personifies the evil that is Donald Trump.
