Stephen Colbert: A Road Map
His slap back at the FCC is a roadmap for OUR media
I have been a Colbert fan for at least the last twenty years. His comedy is such a privilege to watch. I have to admit I probably learned more about politics from him while growing up, watching him do “The Colbert Report” on Comedy Central, than I did in high school.
For the uninitiated, Stephen Colbert played an overly exaggerated right-wing news pundit, though these days his exaggerated take seems almost tame. When you compare it to people like Alex Jones or the entirety of Fox News except the one left-wing voice on there, Jessica Tarlov. Personally I could not imagine being up to my ears in that filth every day.
Colbert took all of the worst of right-wing politics of the day and twisted them into some of the funniest comedy I have ever seen. He was able to take the most ridiculous stupidity coming from the Republicans and make you laugh about it instead of crying. I respect Colbert for his work at Comedy Central.
I now have found a whole new level of respect for him. Early in 2025 it was announced that The Late Show would be ending in May 2026.
The excuse CBS gave was due to the financial state of the company. That said, we all know the reasoning behind it.
DT has been getting his wittle fee fees hurt since the show began in 2015. So once again he has pushed the FCC to tighten its grip on what Colbert can say. Basically restricting his right to practice free speech.
Then came the 2/16/26 episode of “The Late Show,” and Colbert was forced to take his interview off the air with Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico.
This was obviously a highly partisan move. The owners of CBS are all DT's minions. And the FCC chair is a Christian Nationalist who doesn’t approve of Colbert's work, as he is another DT sycophant.
What Colbert did in response was brilliant. He staged a takedown of the FCC chairman Brendan Carr that you just have to watch. Just for note, if you want to see the video of Talarico's interview, you can find it on YouTube. Just type his name in; it comes right up.
What we need is more voices like his. I really hope he continues to just trash this administration all the way until the show is shut down in May.
Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel need to just rail on this government every single day. If they continue, maybe we will see more TV personalities finding the will to do the same.
If the media can finally grow a pair and find the guts that the two late-night hosts have, this could help spread the word to people who don't necessarily have a good internet connection.
The regime can only continue to hold its grip on the republicans if the optics stay in place. The propaganda is wearing thin on the internet, and DT has historically low polling numbers.
If the Democrats in Congress continue to both-sides things, maybe enough media will provide the correct message to take this regime’s teeth away.
The last few special elections in very red areas are showing tremendous swings to the left. This gives me so much hope. The narrative is spreading that DT has had no intention since day one to improve our lives.
There are still some very difficult days ahead, but once again people are seeing the absolute lawlessness of this current situation. Even some of the biggest voices in right-wing media are starting to think things are not going as intended.
If more media can shift the narrative to what is actually happening instead of reading the fiction that is being spewed from the White House, it can help bring things back to sanity.
Love you guys.

Stephen Colbert for President! Seriously, we need Colbert to run for political office. I understand he will be free from his current employment by this May. A perfect time to start a campaign for 2028!
