Neighbors Are the Key
Neighborhood nonviolent defense strategies are a must.
I understand through the hundreds of comments that I have viewed in the last week that many of you feel heartsick and frustrated about what has been happening lately. Believe me when I say this, I feel the exact same way.
We are in the midst of something I never thought we would see. A totalitarian takeover of our government?
Two years ago I would have laughed in your face.
Unless you are not watching the news, or keeping up with what is happening in Minnesota, or you are just in denial, this should make anyone feel shaken. I feel this down in my core. Things are not normal and I know most of you feel the same way.
I, however, have run across some good advice from another creator that goes by your weirdo friend that has given some tips and advice that could be valuable if ICE were to show up near your home.
These are some tactics that people used when the Gestapo roamed the streets during the days of World War 2.
One such tactic is obscuring, removing, or switching around your house numbers in your street.
If you have neighbors and want to make it difficult for these agents, they may just get frustrated and leave.
A good portion of these guys are not trained in techniques to handle confusion if unexpected. They only get about six weeks of training, and many of them are not fit to even be in law enforcement to begin with.
Another idea that your weirdo friend had is if you get tipped off, or your neighbors find out that these assholes are nearby, in a combined effort, block the street. Put your cars out on the road. Make sure they cannot get their vehicles through.
Once again, these guys are already very unpopular; if they get to your town, chances are, they will try their best to be as quick and nonconfrontational as possible.
Meaning, they are going to need a lot of tow trucks and a lot of activity, and in no way will they be able to avoid getting noticed. This will give people a chance to at least implement any emergency plans you may have.
The third action item that could work is putting duct tape over your street signs. Even though they have GPS, it can still be hard to get oriented. If the neighborhood is hard to navigate and they are unsure where they are going, it could be enough to convince them that they should move on.
As we all know, every neighborhood has its nooks and crannies that can at least make things inconvenient. That may be just enough to get them to go away. Another thing about some neighborhoods, is that many houses in newer developments look the same. Again, this can make things disorienting.
Last but certainly not least. If you know someone who may be vulnerable to deportation due to their immigration status, maybe set up a house that they can go to. For instance, on Mondays they could go to one address and on Tuesdays a different one, and so on.
The key here is that we have to get to know our neighbors. If you have never met them, maybe reach out. The regime is counting on us to be divided. If we are divided, they can pick us off much easier than if we have a plan of action as a combined group.
If you spread this to all of your friends, and they tell two people and then they tell another two, before you know it, whole towns could have the same plans.

We have obviously been caught off guard, and it has taken almost a year for many of us to realize what is happening. Anyone trying to convince you that things are normal is simply wrong.
I don't think anyone expected this type of action by our own government, but here we are. Now that we have recognized the danger and the lengths these people will go to, it is time to do something about it.
We can make as many observations as we want, and rehash how horrible it is, but we are going to have to take action in a tangible way. This is the way we can keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. We need to keep things absolutely non-violent. Violence will not help.
Invoking your 2nd Amendment right to carry guns will not be useful. It becomes incredibly difficult to fix things once mass violence breaks out. If we use weapons, it will be all the excuse they need to put us under martial law. We do not want that.
But what we can do is make things difficult for these people. This may be just enough to keep them from doing these unconscionable things.
If you have any suggestions, ideas, or otherwise, I am going to try to collect them and maybe update the newsletter as we go in order to take more precise nonviolent action in the future.
Not every tactic will work in every situation so we have to get creative.

Actually I think a lot of people anticipated this kind of thing. They were called alarmists and doomsayers. But they were correct.
Thank you for this post. You provided some very good ideas here. Here are some other possibilities. Another good idea is to get your block to share addresses and phone numbers. If you have neighbors who are immigrants, let them know that your place is a safe haven (if you wish to do this, of course). Knowing that there is a place to run to is very important in thwarting these monsters’ plans. You never know when you might be the one running for your life. Install cameras outside, as well as update your locks to make your doors more difficult to be kicked in. Call 911 should these ICE creatures attempt to break down doors. They do not have the right to do so and reporting this to the police is necessary. Ask your elected officials to show up in the neighborhoods being targeted. They should be accompanied by police protection, not only for their safety but to inject a police presence into the ICE equation. Stay calm and do not use F-bombs! They are not effective. Be strong and resist with contempt, not violence. If they are trying to kidnap you, make sure you have printouts with your name, face, and next-of-kin contact information to hand to fellow protestors. That way you have a better chance of not disappearing into their concentration camps. Minnesota is currently on the front lines of this ICE brutality, but if Trump and his minions remain unchecked, the ICE gestapo will be moving soon to other cities and states. Good luck, fellow Americans and our immigrant friends. No one voted for this; however, a bunch of ill-informed voted for the orange idiot and his henchmen. That is a shame that will haunt us for years.
