Unfortunately you are speaking to the chorus. I didn’t support him in 2016. He was already accused of being a pedophile, he was already a confirmed rapist, spoke plainly as a misogynist and racist and lastly but not the most important multiple business failures.
No one is coming to save us. Our problem is too many Americans aren’t speaking up or standing up. The silence is deafening. I never understood how so many people got on the train? I still don’t understand while standing beside them now.
Our children and their children have had the American dream taken from them by many selfish people who are holding onto their power while giving up their power, by CEOs who define their success solely by company stock, billionaires who want more money and believe they will survive this by building a bunker for their children, and by cowards.
What’s not working is restating the obvious over and over. It’s no longer about changing the minds of the few who can not see the truth or are happily participating in the destruction of our country. It’s about helping people stand up and speak up.
I am and no doubt more than a few others begin to use the term “political terrorists” to describe Republicans back when they did their fiscal cliff tantrums to thwart social spending during past democratic presidencies. The U.S. says it does not negotiate with terrorists. I agree with the author that there is no negotiating with the terrorist group known as the Republican party. But that is not news.
“If you are on the fence about any of this administration’s policies, then you are making more money than over 99 percent of the country, or you are lying.”
My prayers started out wimpy when praying for him, i.e., not stubbing his toe in the Oval, to extremely aggressive now, almost warrior like mode. If he ain't your's Lord and only He knows, Send him packing out of the w.h. like a wild beast eating premium grass
In having raised a son and 3 daughters, I’ve had to learn a lot about navigating diplomatic relations, interpersonal and corporate communication and non discriminatory practices to name a few things . Now that my kids and grandkids are older, I have taken the skills I’ve acquired and applied them to the world of politics. It’s not that much different. Just envision Trump as a close family member guilty of abuse, corrupting the mind of minors, favoritism, pedophilia, rape, abandonment, lying, stealing-the list goes on and on. Any decent parent would agree that you would not want Trump near your family! It’s the same scenario for being an American citizen under the Trump regime. Half of this country has to admit they made the wrong decision.
Erik, the tone of your epistle (angry) captures exactly how I feel every day. It’s disheartening to wake up angry. T needs to go now before we all have heart attacks. And his henchmen!!
Don’t hold your breath on any meaningful action from most of our elected officials. They’re benefitting too much from our broken system to do more than wring their hands and whine. Warren always “has a bill for that.” They’re all talk and no action from both sides of the aisle, sadly.
Thank you my friend. We will win. We have to continue to fight. Not like you need reminding but we are still in this fight even though sometimes it feels hopeless.
Strange times! This horrible situation is pushing me back to my roots ... Who would have thought?
"In the newly released Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV takes on the digital revolution of the day, challenging people of goodwill to prioritize the dignity of human beings when utilizing the powers of artificial intelligence. The pope writes on themes of war and peace; economic rights and the distribution of power; on histories marred by slavery and on futures that look bleaker every passing day.
Against such a backdrop, we may throw up our hands in despair. What can one person possibly do to affect meaningful change?
Here, Pope Leo turns to the words of Gandalf and his renowned Catholic creator: "It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till." "
To be clear, my first comment quotes a couple of paragraphs from a Catholic publication. I did not write them although i think they are beautifully expressed timely thoughts.

Everything is on our collective heads and keeps us in current turmoil!

Your girls are blessed to have such a great example to follow. You’re doing all the right things!

I would add stupid as well.
*Standing ovation

Love ya, Brother.
And, I loved this essay in its entirety. It is spot•on.

All this to say from outside of poor suffering USA, it is not just you. Apparently the tide of evil is rising in many places. This is very disturbing.
