A Message to My Children

As I write this I am in a dark place. I hope I am able to look back at this article and smile as you and your sisters read this.

Today is June 29th, 2025 9:37am. Two of you are at church and one is still asleep upstairs dreaming the dreams of an angry, confused, and unsure teenager. I was there one day as well. It will get better.

I want to let the three of you know that I have written about 130 articles at this point. They primarily explain, in the words of an amateur politico, the things that are happening in our government. And yes, I am liberal hence my Liberaldad moniker.

By now you have certainly heard Mom and I fighting over the recent activities being seen on television and online. She and I have different points of view, and thats okay. Please do not hold it against me or her. I love your mom and love can break through the barriers of any circumstance or opinion. So please, in the future, when you are able to read and understand the things that I have written, please don’t be upset at either one of us.

I know I have had bad takes on things in the past and I know I will continue to make decisions that are not necessarily the best. As a human being, I have very human emotions, and I have had to vent in my articles because it’s the only way I can properly spell out how I have been feeling. I have been VERY angry. I have felt contempt and hatred for my government that I never thought I could experience.

Our government right now, as I write this article is reading the roughly 1000 page bill as a stall tactic by democrats in the senate. The democrats in the senate are trying to get the republicans to really consider what they are voting for in whats called the reconciliation bill.

It is really going to harm a lot of people. At this point I am not sure to what extent it will hurt our family but we will definitely experience some economic hardship.

This bill will strip Healthcare away from millions of people. It will take away SNAP benefits, which is money given to people who don't have enough to eat. It will make it harder for technology to be developed to make our environment cleaner. It will make food less safe to eat and water less safe to drink.

Like I said at the beginning of this article, I am in a dark place. I am looking for some glimmer of hope that this bill can be stopped. Perhaps it will hit a roadblock at some point before being finalized, but as of today there are more for it than against it.

I don't understand how the people who claim to be christian could possibly be for this. It will do harm to so many people. This type of harm will be felt on an old testament scale and I cannot be complacent about it. There is nothing that anyone could tell me about this atrocious document that could make me change my mind. This will result in the death of many people.

So, H, P, and A, I want you to know that with my little voice I have done what I could to resist this current government’s plans, and I will continue to do so until my last breath.

I am sorry if you are now struggling with the results of what our government could have stopped at any point during this time. I wrote to my senators, congressman and even the White House. I stood on the corner of my neighborhoods busiest road to protest with a little bit of help from H and P, thank you!

I flew to Washington DC to protest the cuts to Veteran Benefits that are included in the bill. I went downtown in negative eight degree weather to protest this illegal presidency and stood in the searing heat on NFB along with 100s of others on No Kings Day. Not to mention millions more across the globe.

I am sorry if it wasn’t enough. I truly am still trying to think of ways to get the word out to people that haven’t been paying attention.

People are being kidnapped by masked thugs across the United States and either being detained, arrested, harassed and beaten. Many of them are doing this under the guise of an agency called ICE, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. But to me they just strike me as a terrorist group sanctioned by some people in our government to do harm to others that are not white, straight, and male.

The bill that is being talked about in this article gives “ICE” billions of dollars more to continue their operation. This will essentially allow these “people” to to abuse and terrorize citizens and non citizens across this nation except with more money and better technology. Not to mention bigger detention facilities.

There will continue to be protests, boycotts, strikes and more. Chances are that things will get more violent as this government exercises it's authoritarian powers. I hope to one day to be able to tell you guys that we prevailed.In all honestly I don’t know if things will get fixed during my time here on this little blue ball on the outskirts of the Milkyway.

I love you guys S, H, P, A. I also love all of you out there who have supported my work. I will continue to rant and rave for as long as I can. I will fight till my last breath for my family. I will stand against tyranny in any way that I can. I will continue to love my neighbor even if they disagree with me, including my wife and other relatives.

To my children, if this article finds you some day, I will forever admire each of you in your own special way. H, for your beautiful spirit and love. P, for your passion and ferocity to drive yourself to the next level. And A, your absolute care and empathy for those around you and your wonderful art.
