The Mystique is Broken

Support is quickly fading

There is a certain likability that authoritarians possess—a talent for speaking, salesmanship, or a sense of what the crowd wants. The problem with this set of abilities is that they are all surface-level characteristics. They do not necessarily adhere to the type of person that they are.

Malignant narcissists like DT, however, believe that they have all of these talents. If you can look past the facade of his thinly veiled attempts to sound smart, tough, or clever, you are left with the shell of a man who has long since lost his ability to maintain coherent thought. He is no longer able to play games when he doesn’t know the answer to the question posed because he has already forgotten the original question.

He is weaker today than at any time in the last ten years. In the last decade, he has invaded the public mind. A large section of our country has been infected with this virus that calls itself DT.

He has made his whole life about being a victim. In my opinion, this is why people like him. People have been struggling for years with economic insecurity and are just barely making it by. Indeed, most people these days cannot afford to miss a full week’s paycheck. But what many of his followers are now learning is that this grievance-filled rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. He learned one thing while putting on his grievance show as pretend president: people are hurting.

While never actually having a plan, he was able to get in front of those crowds and speak to the masses on their level. It didn’t matter that he never proposed a solution while in front of everyone; it simply gave him the ammunition he needed for appeal.

It didn’t matter that he ever had to struggle like the crowds he spoke to, who had fixed incomes, disabilities, or massive college debt. He knew that these people were desperate for someone angry, and that is what DT is at all times.

He has aspired to be the president of the United States for much longer than ten years. But something he has never accomplished, even though he holds the title of POTUS, is the confidence of the American people. There is no chance he will ever regain the support he once had from his supporters. He is too tired, too old, and too sick to put in the work it would take to regain the confidence of people who once supported him.

With the Epstein lie kicking out the foundation of what his presidency was supposed to expose. Along with all the broken promises of lowering the cost of living. Now, with the withdrawal of ICE from Minnesota along with the retreat of the National Guard, things are turning and show no sign of slowing down.

Let’s not forget the illegal strikes on boats in the Caribbean, the pardoning of a major drug lord, and the list just goes on.

Congress is starting to grow a spine; even a couple of the Republicans are starting to stand up to him.

I feel cautiously optimistic that there will be an increasing rejection of DT's and the P2025 authoritarian playbook. It seems that fear is starting to ebb and the confidence will increase.

I don't agree with most Republican policies, but if it neutralizes the deranged monster in office along with his little inner circle.
