I Feel Tired
It's to darn early
It's 4:30 in the morning. I can't sleep, yet I went to bed at 11:30 last night. I am not a great sleeper to begin with but last night was especially difficult.
I know we aren't supposed to look at our phones for an extended period of time, but I just cannot look away from this trainwreck that our country has become.
I'm told by other people to ignore it and it will be okay. I am told by people in my own home that things aren't as bad as they seem.
I am not an alarmist by any stretch. I've always taken the let's wait and see approach but this time it's different.
The state of our country keeps me from sleeping well. I never in my 45 years on this planet have been worried about the well being of my family and friends until that man took office a month ago.
I think there is a good reason that I am not sleeping well. And the people that are like me are of the same mind. I think this is a make or break moment for this country.
I think all of us that are of the same mind are feeling exhausted right now. This is by design by the people that carry nothing but hate in their heart. They are causing the unrest in this country. They are pushing the boundaries to see what they can get away with. Then they throw out distractions to get us to look the other way.
I mean come on! Changing the name of Greenland to Red, White, and Blue Land? (H.R. 1161) This is beyond stupid. My 7 year old daughter could come up with a better name. This is a distraction. They are doing this to “flood the zone” to take up news and air time so they can push their real agenda which is to continue to turn this country into a shadow of what it once was.
When the mass protests happen, (which they will) we are going to be tired and angry and I just want to say that you are going to have to let that exhaustion fuel you. Remind yourself when you feel like it is too much and want to just give up, that this is our country. We need to sacrifice just as our ancestors did when the civil war was happening. The good people of this nation need to rise up and push for what is right, and be willing to skip a paycheck or two to bring this economy to a halt. This will send a message that we are not going to roll over and let these oligarchs take over.
If we band together and march, the engine that fuels these billionaires will bust. They will be forced to come to the table. They will have to negotiate and give back to us that are not as privileged, what we deserve.
We deserve free healthcare
We deserve a liveable minimum wage .
We deserve the right to practice whatever religion we want.
We deserve the right to include people of any race, color, creed, sexual orientation or disability in fair hiring practices.
We deserve the right to privacy, medical, sexual or otherwise.
We deserve to have a roof over our head and warmth under that roof.
We deserve the right to have food security.
We deserve the right to civil liberties and the right to pursue justice when our liberties are violated.
There are many more things that I can list but as I mentioned I feel tired. Please, please remember that this country is not supposed to be a kleptocracy. This country is supposed to be for the people and by the people.
We will have to rise and I am here for it.
Love you all,
Erik

I share your insomnia. I spent more than an hour awake last night, so many things running through my mind. I'm planning to attend my first protest on Monday. I'm still trying to figure out what's going to be on my sign. I'm planning to write about that over the next couple of days. Take care of yourself.
