Grow a Pair Republicans
They know they’re wrong
I was thinking about courage in government today. I also feel like it can’t be possible that all of these republican leaders all feel the same way about what is being done by Elon Musk and his little gang of snot nosed children are doing.
A long time ago specifically May 22nd 1856 Charles Sumner was giving an anti slavery speech and subsequently had some nasty remarks for some pro slavery senators, Stephen Douglas and Andrew Butler. After mocking Andrew Butler who wasn’t there at the time of the speech, one of Butler’s constituents did happen to be there, his name was Preston Brooks.
Whatever Sumner said must have pissed off Preston Brooks something awful. Preston came over to Sumner with a cane and started beating him with a cane and landed a nasty blow to the head right there on the floor of the senate. Brooks was censured for the ordeal but he continued to serve in government.
Now I don’t pretend to think that this was a courageous act, but the man disagreed with Charles Sumner to such a degree that he hit him in the back of the head.
That said I’m not looking for the individuals in our government to start having physical altercations with the people they disagree with but I would like to see some fire.
The things that Musk and Trump are doing are highly illegal and they are laying waste to programs in our country that have been used for decades. The time is now to break from decorum. We have to stop being polite in the face of this dismantling of our government before it’s too late. Musk should be led to a cop car in hand cuffs. I don’t care how much money he has.
The republicans in congress need to stand up for what is right regardless if they don’t get elected for their next term. Take a page out of Danielle Sassoon’s playbook. She was willing to sacrifice her career as a republican prosecutor because she knew she was being asked to do something unethical by dropping the case against NYC mayor Eric Adam’s. She was willing to stand up for what was right.
You can’t tell me that there is not any republicans in congress that are willing to stand up and disagree with the turmoil that Trump and Musk have created. They are just a couple of douchebags that have no spine. Those two are just bullies and if you stand up to them they will back off.
Stand up for what is right republicans, you know that what is happening is wrong. For the sake of this democracy please start standing up to those buffoons.
