Gimmicks? Really?

So since the Jeff Bezos owned Washington Post felt it necessary to call The Harris Campaign and platform ideas gimmicks, I would like to respond. If you don’t already know, Jeff Bezos is the billionaire that started Amazon who is currently worth 196.1 billion dollars. The editorial board thinks they know more about what we need than people of average income. Speaking of gimmicks, how about the gimmicks that Bezos pulls with his multibillion dollar company. Specifically his workforce. His company refuses to address poor working conditions for warehouse employees. They have employees working at a breakneck pace which will inevitably lead to injury. OSHA has already cited the company for putting employees at risk of lower back injuries from long hours and constant twisting and bending. OSHA has also found that Amazon has failed to ensure that injured employees receive proper medical care as required by law.

Some safety measures have been implemented but it’s on a case by case basis. There is nothing in writing and nothing can stop management from rescinding such measures.

According to stats found on www.prismreport.org via CUED report (Center for Urban Economic Development) found that 41 percent of Amazon workers have been injured on the job. So 4 out of every 10 workers will get injured while working for Jeff Bezos’ company.

There is also hyper surveillance on these warehouse employees that record time of bathroom breaks and have quotas that if you miss will lead to you eventually being fired. This puts the worker under threat and mental strain, which will lead to burn out, and failing to use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury because of the need to rush.

Kamala Harris announced that some of the measures being put into place are consumer protections at the supermarket as well as the pharmacy. She wants to stop the price gouging which has been rampant since the pandemic. Pharmaceutical companies as well as grocers and oil companies have all been getting record profits since COVID 19 hit. How on earth is stopping greedflation a gimmick? Once again these billionaires and crooked politicians are just looking to pad their wallets as well as their shareholders so they can make more money, meanwhile leaving 95% of the country to suffer.

I am also more than confident that what she has announced is just a pinch of what will be announced at the upcoming DNC which starts on Monday. So, WAPO editorial needs to get those panties they got all in a twist and just relax because there is much more to come.
