An Excellent Start!
Hands Off 4/5/25 will only be the beginning
If we as a collective commit to further this idea that we are a democracy, Saturday's protest must be only the beginning.
We have to promise ourselves that when we see the injustice of what is happening today, it must feed our desire to resist tomorrow.
When a sitting congressman in Texas quotes Joseph Goebbels during a congressional hearing, there is a major problem.
When we see legal green card holders arrested and deported to an El Salvador death camp, we must take action.
Our attorney general says there is nothing they can do to help a man who was mistakenly sent to an El Salvador prison due to a “clerical error”, it further justifies our need to continue to rise up.
This government has been tyrannical from the start. This is what people of my opinion most feared when Trump decided way back, to run for another term.
He is willing to personify the very opposite of what these United States stand for. The whole idea was based on not having a single ruler with ultimate authority but three equal branches of government. The system of checks and balances has become an afterthought.
I am proud to be among the people who showed up on Saturday and I will continue to show up for as long as it takes. Now is not the time to be complacent. We have to take this energy and use it for the next event. The next event for Hands Off is on April 15th but please double check my information if you want to go.
Some estimates say as many as 5 million people showed up on Saturday. Judging from the crowd sizes that I saw online, I would be willing to say that was an accurate number.
There is going to more ugliness on the way from the current regime this upcoming week. The stock market is poised to take another significant hit. I am sure there will be more illegal arrests by ICE and even more persecution against people based on their skin color or a tattoo. Or according to the current border czar Thom Homan “a gut feeling”.
Please, if you have not engaged, I am asking you personally to get out there and take a stand. We need to fight back and stop what is quickly becoming an authoritarian state. Don't let fear keep you home, use that fear to drive you. Use it to protect our future generations, so they have a chance to experience what people of the United States have so taken for granted.
I love you all,
Erik
PS If you can afford it, could you please subscribe to my newsletter? Prices are going up and I have a family of five to support on one income. It only costs $5 a month or $50 for a year and you can cancel at any time. Thanks!

I believe the next hands off will be April 19
