A Successor?
Speculation on what happens after DT
This thought has been rolling around in my head for the last few days. The guy is in the midst of a total cognitive breakdown. We all know his mental faculties are getting worse by the day.
So the question is, who replaces the man when he can no longer function?
In my research, I have learned that there have been several different ways successorship has been attempted. I spent some time on this, assuming this country is currently under the rule of a dictator.
Early dictatorships went by a framework that says when the tyrant dies, a family member then takes over, effectively turning the dictatorship into a monarchy.
There are now more sophisticated ways that could be implemented. These ideas effectively rewrite the existing constitution or write a brand new one that puts in a succession plan.
I believe that we are currently not a full dictatorship, but the actions of DT and those surrounding him point directly to this end.
The slave-like devotion of those surrounding him is very reminiscent of dictators of the past. They praise him like he has saved the world on multiple occasions. They stand at podiums declaring how his actions have been the work of a political genius. That he saved us all from the evil Biden administration.
The theory at work right now in the United States is that the president has much more power than was previously thought. They called it the unitary executive theory.
Former White House Counsel John Dean said: "In its most extreme form, unitary executive theory can mean that neither Congress nor the federal courts can tell the President what to do or how to do it, particularly regarding national security matters."
In my mind, this throws the balance of power of our three coequal branches of government right out the window. In a nutshell, this puts the president in charge, essentially allowing him to rule by fiat. That sounds to me more like a dictatorship with a mask pretending to be a democracy.
So who takes over? Hitler basically had no plan until he made mention that if he died, he named several of his top cabinet members, but by the time his rule was coming to an end, World War II had ended Nazi Germany's power over the country.
The problem with deciding on a successor is that most tyrants, including DT, have a certain charisma about them. Herein lies the problem. No one in DT's upper echelon is like him from the standpoint of this mystique, or spell, that pulls people’s attention towards him.
JD Vance is not likeable in any way. When it comes to Vance taking over, if this is done by way of our current constitution, he will not last. He will not be able to take the pressure from the media. He is not mature enough to handle the highest office in our country. Neither does DT, but I digress. Vance won't be able to fake his way through like DT does, and he can't relate to anyone like his current master because Vance needs to work off a script and no one takes him seriously. He has no ability to think on the fly.
I also think Speaker of the House is on the way out as well. The House GOP has lost all confidence in him.
Stephen Miller looks like he is Joseph Goebbels's long-lost twin brother. Miller also has a huge problem because despite his outward hate of brown people. His obvious racism and desire to eliminate his opposition by force will not allow any room for public support.
A dictator has to have a specific charisma that draws the public to him or her. Though DT horrifies me, many, with the help of state regime media, have turned DT into this godlike creature.
Once DT leaves his mortal vessel, there will be a power vacuum that must be filled. In my opinion, I don’t think there is a succession plan. I don't think the people below his office have the guts to even bring up the fact that he might pass on in the near future. As we all know, he does not look well.
So none of the front-facing individuals of this administration, in my humble opinion, seem to be suited for the job. But there has to be a leader.
This is what I am struggling to answer. Does an outside entity try to take over? Does Putin decide to attack us and try to throw the world into chaos?
Does Elon Musk or Peter Thiel take over the country through destruction of our internet infrastructure and turn us into a permanent surveillance state?
What I currently believe to be true is that there will have to be something that will fill this void. Power hates a vacuum, and this will most likely not be a pleasant transition. There is too much money and military power that sits at the top of this nation.
Therefore, we as a collective have to continue to fight for this democracy. We are not finished yet. We are seeing big fractures in the MAGA GOP, and it seems like there is no sign of slowing down.
We must continue to be brave in the face of the turmoil that this nation is experiencing. We have all worked too hard and too long to not fight back.
There will be another No Kings event in the near future, and no one in charge of this nation should ever consider themselves above the law.
Love you guys.

I've been pondering the same scenario myself for the last year. I recall Trump being asked if Vance would be his running mate again, if he tried to go for a third term. Trump wasn't very forthcoming with his response.
You can expect Trump's efforts to turn America into a dictatorship to escalate rapidly in 2026. My suspicion is that if he is successful, he will name Don Jr. as his heir. I don't see Trump branding buildings etc. with anyone else's name. His demented ego will want the Trump legacy to continue, after he dies.
I could see a prolonged civil war erupting among MAGA, if that was the case. Trump supporters are a mixed bag of motives and beliefs, who are aligned behind Trump only because he manages to juggle laws and policies that serve the Nazis, the Christian zealots and the technocrats.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but my conclusion on the steps Americans must take to end tyranny haven't changed.
Jan 30th, when the government is once again arguing over extending funding needs to be the day that the public makes its' most powerful stand against the current corrupt regime to date. It needs to be the public who collectively shut the country down in protest. I don't mean for a day or a weekend. There needs to be a sustained cessation of participation, that doesn't relent until the main goal is achieved. The entire criminal enterprise destroying democracy , that is masquerading as an administration, must be removed from power and imprisoned.
People have greater power than they realize, but they need the backbone to act, while there is still a country to save. Waiting for the midterms in hopes of enacting change is a fools' gambit.
Whew. Thanks. You're illuminating the utter chaos and madness from the same hymnal, of insight from the edges of which I'm reading, that suggests that we are on a precipice, about to tip over into a nightmare of the character of Terry Gilliam's "Brazil", or the series "Andor". Everything decent shall be subject to exploitation and extraction. I suggest to you and your readers this lengthy and relevant analysis from a fellow hymnist, Rachel of "This Woman Votes", on the subject of the 'what's next'.
She suggests that 'once you've designed a successful product, you don't close the factory; you scale up to full production'.
There are trillions of dollars in the hands of a handful of oligarchs, all focused on feeding their disease of mammonism; or, if that word leaves one cringing: Capital-ism.
Here's her recent analysis:
